And I’ll be me, if that’s okay with you? In a world of opinionated people (including me) can we just agree to disagree on certain things?
Can we talk about the folks who “just want to be accepted for who they are” for a moment?
Like you, who thinks you’re a ‘Furry’ and wants to identify as a cat (or some other hairy animal). In my day, we saved this for a special day, it’s called Halloween.
Like you who has several piercings and/or tattoos all over your body, including your face, neck and, likely in, on, or near your unmentionables. In my day, we only did our unmentionables so as not to scare young children.
Like you who barely dresses in public. Leaving nothing to the imagination. In my day, we dressed for success, not for a booty call. We saved that for a night out with the girls.
Like you with the beard and mustache in a dress and heels, carrying a Louey Vuitton. In my day, we thought you were just confused. We’re still not sure if you are gay or want to be a woman or are in transition. Perhaps, you just appreciate women’s attire?
So, regardless of who or what you identify as, are you sure you really want the world to know? I mean, if you’re going to do it, do it 100%, make the commitment and you do you no matter what. Otherwise, it’s just what is called a phase. Let’s not forget, it’s not all about you. You do realize that, right? What do your parents think about your choices? You’re siblings? Extended family? Friends? Co-worker’s? What about that guy at the bank who determines if you get the loan or not? Do you have 100% support? Of course you don’t. Why? Because no matter how badly you want to be accepted, we live in a society of opinionated, judge mentals and you will never be understood or accepted 100%. So, if you want to blend in, don’t stand out in the crowd (unless you can intelligently defend yourself).
Have a great day, unless you’ve made other plans!
